As a framework for making improvements, in 2004, Adur in Partnership produced a community strategy called Your Community,Your Future.

A lot has happened since 2004.  A new community strategy was needed, based on changing local needs, and embedding national priorities such as sustainable communities, and climate change. A new plan was needed to integrate policies and infrastructure plans for the development of Adur for the next two decades.

Adur in Partnership agreed to work with neighbouring Local Strategic Partnership, Worthing Together, towards a joint Sustainable Community Strategy, to supersede the earlier community strategies of both areas.  The new Sustainable Community Strategy is  called waves ahead.

waves ahead

Waves ahead 2010—2026 has balanced statistical and qualitative evidence with the results of community consultation to find out the needs and desires of the area. We are grateful to the many partner agencies and community groups, and to the 1,400 plus local residents, that contributed to its development. All of this has helped to shape the vision and priorities laid out in waves ahead.

Hard copies of waves ahead are available at Public Libraries, Leisure Centres, Children & Family Centres, Community Centres and Council Offices.

For a printable pdf version of waves ahead, please click here.  Web links, highlighted in yellow, enable you to access further information about other strategies, policies, projects and partnerships referred to in the document.

In the near future we will be providing you with

* sources for the evidence on which waves ahead is based
* details of the public consultation
* supporting material and
* impact assessments.

We are now preparing Action Plans detailing exactly what will be delivered, when, and by whom. We are particularly working on some short-term actions that we can deliver within the next year. These plans will be published on this website in the near future and will be monitored regularly. Progress reports will be made available annually.

If you have any queries about waves ahead, or you want to know how you can be involved in delivering the vision, please contact
